The Golden Bachelorette star Mark Anderson may be known as the hot dad to end all hot dads, but his red flags could push producers to cast him as the next Golden Bachelor. Mark, the father of The Bachelor season 28 winner Kelsey Anderson, was cast on the series hoping that he'd find love with Joan Vassos. Though he's made it further in the season than some have expected, it's clear that he and Joan are having some struggles in finding common ground with their connection. While Mark's time on The Golden Bachelorette hasn't made him seem like a producer plant, there's too much evidence stacked against him that leads to the idea that he could be one. Mark's daughter, Kelsey, appeared on The Bachelor season 28 with Joey Graziadei. During the hometown dates of that season, Mark was introduced as Kelsey's sweet widower father who grilled Joey, but ultimately accepted him into the family. Bachelor Nation loved Mark immediately, dubbing him the hot dad of the season and hoping that Kelsey and Joey would end up together so they could see him on screen again.

While Bachelor Nation was excited by the prospect of Mark being part of the franchise, things escalated when viewers got the idea he should be part of The Golden Bachelorette. It's possible that Bachelor producers listened to the viewers as they began casting The Golden Bachelorette season 1 and brought Mark into the mix for his connections to the rest of the Bachelor franchise. Mark may have been interested in the experience, or he may have wanted to gain fame by appearing in the newest series in the franchise. He could even be getting groomed to become The Golden Bachelor.

He Could Be Holding Back With Joan
While Mark seems to be doing his best to show his open and vulnerable sides to Joan, he does appear to be holding back a bit on The Golden Bachelorette. Mark's background is a very tragic, life-altering story that he likely doesn't tell often, especially knowing that he's spent years single and caring for his children after their mother's death. While Mark has been opening up to Joan, there's a little bit of a wall still up for the widower that Bachelor Nation has been taking note of, leaving many wondering if he has ulterior motives on The Golden Bachelorette.
Though it's more likely he's being genuine with Joan, it's possible that Mark is holding back because he'd like to be kicked off of the show entirely. Knowing that he's one of Bachelor Nation's darlings, Mark could be fumbling his appearance on The Golden Bachelorette to get himself removed from the series and ensure that he has the ammo to become the next Golden Bachelor. If Mark can find himself leading The Golden Bachelor season 2, he'd be able to make a huge mark on the franchise and choose his own destiny when it comes to his Bachelor love story.
Mark Anderson Could Be Just Like Gerry Turner
He Could Be Hiding His Flaws
Mark's time on The Golden Bachelorette has been overshadowed by some of the other guys of the season, but his time with Joan has been interesting to watch for several reasons. While Mark has his guard up in some ways, he's been able to make it clear that he's interested enough in Joan for him to stick around on the Bachelor franchise series. Sadly for the way Bachelor Nation contestants tend to work out, Mark could be a wolf in sheep's clothing, fooling the viewers and Joan. Mark's behavior hasn't been overly suspicious, but neither was Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner's.
While Mark may have a better case for being genuine on reality TV, his time on The Golden Bachelorette has been suspiciously positive. The Golden Bachelorette star could have the makings of being a villain in the long-run, fooling Bachelor Nation in the same way that Gerry did during the first season of the series. While the skeletons in Mark's closet may not be as massive as the ones in Gerry's were, there are surely things in Mark's past that could mess with the perception Bachelor Nation has of him. For Joan's sake, many are hopeful Mark is completely genuine.

While Mark has been doing a great job with Joan on The Golden Bachelorette, many may be feeling like his persona on the series is simply too good to be true. Mark's behavior on The Golden Bachelorette has emulated everything that women are interested in from a prospective romance, and with Joan looking for a partner to spend the second act of her life with, Mark seems like a great candidate. Despite knowing that Gerry duped Bachelor Nation with a sweet persona, Joan has been giving Mark too much of a chance as she's moved through The Golden Bachelorette process.
Mark's a sweetheart on The Golden Bachelorette, giving caring, open answers to all of Joan's questions and being emotionally vulnerable with her as he moves through his time on the series. This could be genuine, but it feels like he's being too kind, too sweet, and too open with the cameras present. For someone who hasn't been on TV in the past, Mark's appearances have been suspicious for some as they look back at how open-hearted he's been. It's possible he could be telling the truth, but viewers will be keeping an eye on Mark as The Golden Bachelorette continues.
