Storm Reid Not Returning for 'Euphoria' Season 3: 'I'm So Glad That's a Part of My Legacy' Staff, 11/20/2024 Storm Reid confirms she won't return for "Euphoria" Season 3, expressing gratitude for her role as Gia and the show's impact on culture. While production begins in January, the cast faces changes, with previous exits hinting at evolving storylines. What lies ahead for the acclaimed HBO drama? Storm Reid will not be returning for "Euphoria" Season 3, the actor revealed.
"I'm very excited for Season 3," Reid told Rotten Tomatoes on the Governors Awards red carpet. "Unfortunately, Gia's not returning to the third season, but I am so so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO. Euphoria's a really special thing and I'm so glad that that's a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon ... I can't wait to see what Season 3 has in store."
HBO declined to comment.
Reid starred as Gia, the younger sister of Zendaya's Rue, in the first two seasons of "Euphoria," which premiered in June 2019 and finished airing Season 2 in February 2022.
Production on Season 3 of "Euphoria" is set to begin in January. "We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We're happy. We're moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show," HBO boss Casey Bloys told reporters on Nov. 12. The stars of the HBO drama -- which include Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and Colman Domingo -- had previously discussed being left in the dark when it came to the status of the third season, which faced several delays and hiccups.
After production was postponed in March, Reid told Variety back in March, "We would all hope to be able to go back tomorrow, but there are logistics that have to be figured out. So even though I'm a little disappointed, I'm not surprised."
"Euphoria" is slated for an eight-episode third season. The cast also includes Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Maude Apatow, Dominic Fike and Javon Walton. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat in the first two seasons, announced her exit from "Euphoria" in April 2023, saying it was a "mutual decision" to leave because her storyline had run out of gas. "I don't think there was a place for [Kat] to go," Ferreira said. "I don't know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that. I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don't want to play that, and I think they didn't want that either."
Reid is also known for her role in HBO's "The Last of Us," and her credits also include "A Wrinkle in Time," "Sleight" and "Missing."
