A one-of-a-kind property that was once owned by a legendary rock band has gone up for sale. Pennyghael House is situated on the picturesque Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, approximately 40 miles from the island's capital Tobermory.
It is nestled within a scenic 12-acre estate, featuring woodlands and a former walled garden. According to the listing on Bidwells, Pennyghael House is believed to date back to the start of the 19th century, incorporating an earlier house with further additions built around 1920.
It was later owned by the rock band Genesis. The English band, fronted by Phill Collins and known for hits such as 'Invisible Touch' and 'That's All', bought the estate in 1985. They invested around £500,000 into the land before putting it up for sale in 1997.
Over the years, the nine-bedroom mansion has fallen into disrepair. While it was put on the market again in 2021 for £5million, it is now available to buy for offers over just £180,000.
The listing states: "Once the focal point of Pennyghael Estate, the house now lies in a derelict state but offers a wonderful opportunity for the next custodians to either restore the current house or develop a new property elsewhere on the site, subject to the necessary permissions being obtained.
"Planning permission was granted in 2007 for the demolition of parts of the existing building and restoration of the remainder. The house, as it is, stands in a commanding position in its landscape overlooking the former walled garden, grazing and mixed woodland."
According to Bidwells, viewing is "strictly by prior agreement with the selling agents who should be contacted in advance to advise on access arrangements". The listing also states that a liability waiver must be signed before viewing Pennyghael House due to "potential hazards".
