Every year, Hollywood's most famous actors, directors, writers, and everyone in-between come together to celebrate the best films of the season. From The Academy Awards to the Golden Globes, it's a tradition that attracts the attention of an entire nation, and a good chunk of the world. But none of that means anything, because the true awards show announcement has finally arrived. The Golden Raspberry Awards, aka Razzie Awards, a notoriously unserious organization, has revealed the nominees for the 2024 show, and there are no surprises here.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, a slew of popular titles from 2024 were at the top of the most-nominated list for this year's Razzies. To no one's surprise, Joker: Folie à Deux has the most nominations at seven, while Madame Web, Megalopolis, Borderlands, and Reagan are tied with six nominations for the 2025 ceremony. Additionally, to make matters worse, each film got a spot in the Worst Picture category. Meanwhile, Unfrosted, Jerry Seinfeld's fictional take on the origin story of the Pop-Tart from Netflix, narrowly missed out on the esteemed group with four nominations (which doesn't include Best Picture). The superhero genre did not let up with the Joker sequel or Sony's failed Spider-Man prequel, as Lionsgate continued to show off with two nominations for The Crow.
In addition to the aforementioned superhero movies, Kraven the Hunter also got some worthy nods, including Worst Screenplay and Supporting Actress (Ariana DeBose). Of course,it should be noted that most of these choices are simply meant to pick on big-name movies that weren't received well, and are not necessarily the actual worst in their respective category. We're not going to list every single nominee from every category (it gets quite repetitive), but the Worst Picture noms (see below) should give you an idea of the vibes the Razzies were going for.

Do the Razzie Awards Usually Get it Right? (Spoiler Alert: No)

The Razzie Awards can be an amusing and light-hearted event that sounds off on some terrible films, but it sometimes misses the mark. This is especially true when it comes to The Shining, Stanley Kubrick's all-time classic adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. It's known as a masterpiece at this point, but the film's initial release saw many discard it as a misfire by the cast and crew. So much so, it had two Razzie nominations, including Worst Director and Worst Actress. Fortunately, the late great Duvall had her Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress rescinded back in 2022, with the founders of the awards show releasing a statement referencing Kubrick's treatment of the actress on set.
"Knowing the backstory and the way that Stanley Kubrick kind of pulverized her, I would take that back... We're willing to say, 'Yeah, maybe that shouldn't have been nominated.' Everybody makes mistakes. That's being human."

Of course, The Shining is not the only well-regarded project that has been nominated for the satirical awards show. Several filmmakers who have been nominated for a Razzie stick out like a sore thumb, including Brian de Palma (Scarface), legendary composer Ennio Morricone (The Thing), and most notably Sylvester Stallone, who has been dubbed Worst Actor 15 times in his iconic career. And we personally don't think Stallone's Cliffhanger should've been nominated for Worst Picture, especially since it's not close to the worst film in his lengthy resume. The Razzies also voted Stallone as the Worst Actor of the Century, but it's quite clear fans shouldn't take the awards seriously whatsoever.
