Nicolas Cage has signed on to reprise his Spider-Man Noir role in a series for MGM+ and Amazon Prime.
Except in Noir, Cage - who has said he will not return for a third National Treasure movie - will play the live-action character that he voiced in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
The official logline of Noir states that the series will tell the story 'of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one and only superhero.'
The announcement was made prior to Amazon Prime's upfront presentations to advertisers on Tuesday.
'Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers,' Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, said.

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

The role will be Nick's first as a series regular on television.
He previously won the Academy Award for Best Actor in Leaving Las Vegas.
During his long and much-lauded career he has played everything from an alcoholic determined to drink himself to death (Leaving Las Vegas) to a loser in the casinos who gambles his girlfriend away (Honeymoon in Vegas) to Dracula (Renfield).

The series has been in development since 2023 and comes from writers Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will be executive producers and co-showrunners.
Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer will direct and will executive produce the first two episodes.
Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who will also serve as executive producers.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2019.
