Netflix's One Piece Season 2 recently finished filming in South Africa last year, and now more details are coming out about the highly-anticipated journey to the Grand Line. The upcoming second season will see Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his Straw Hat Pirates venture through treacherous waters and into exotic new locations. The pirate crew will encounter powerful new villains and kingdoms, including several key members of the crime syndicate Baroque Works. One of them has just been cast in the live-action series, as well as two other antagonists from an iconic story arc.
Netflix's official social media account for One Piece revealed that the following actors will be joining Season 2 as characters from the original manga: Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, Anton David Jeftha as K.M., and Mark Penwill as Chess. Miss Goldenweek, in particular, is a major new addition to the series and confirms that the season will cover several iconic arcs, including Little Garden. A member of Baroque Works and Mr. 3's partner-in-crime, Miss Goldenweek is a young girl with the special ability to manipulate people through her use of colored paint. Meanwhile, Chess and Kuromarimo (K.M.) are minor villains who serve under the devious king of Drum Island, Wapol, during the same arc that officially introduces Chopper into the fold.
Sophia Anne Caruso is best known for starring in the 2022 fantasy film The School for Good and Evil on Netflix. Her previous roles also include small appearances in I Am Number Four, Eagle Eye, and Evil. When it comes to Wapol's goons, Anton David Jeftha is known for his TV work on Legacy and Dominion, while Mark Penwill has appeared in Warrior, FDR, and the 2024 film The Fix. Although the actors will have relatively small roles in One Piece Season 2, they could serve as their most significant yet.
What Is 'One Piece' Season 2 About?
The second season of Netflix's One Piece will see the live-action adaptation raise the stakes considerably after the show's first outing. The Straw Hat Pirates will be making their way to the Grand Line, a dangerous new frontier that every pirate worth their salt dreams about traversing one day. Populated by kaiju-filled oceans and fantastical islands that don't adhere to any scientific rule, the Grand Line is where the adventure of One Piece truly begins. Season 2 will include Monkey D. Luffy and company encountering a mysterious criminal organization called Baroque Works, as well as the highly-anticipated debut of Chopper, the beloved future member of Luffy's pirate crew.
