The Taliban has begun enforcing new draconian laws in Afghanistan.
What to know: A religious code, issued last month, bans women from raising their voices and looking at men other than their husbands or relatives, among other restrictions.Zooming out: The Taliban retook power in Afghanistan following the U.S.'s chaotic withdrawal in 2021. It had previously ruled from 1996 to 2001, when women's education was banned.

FX's "Shogun" dominated the Emmys last night.
