With James Gunn rebooting the entire DC Universe with co-CEO Peter Safran, fans are eager to see whether DC will finally receive the glory it deserves. With Superman slated to kick off the universe this summer, the second film has received an exciting update.
Per ScreenDaily, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has started filming in the UK this week. The superhero film marks the second entry in DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The previous update for the superhero film revealed that the movie was supposed to kick off production in January 2025 and the new report confirms the rumors. Production is reportedly expected to run through May 2025.

The outlet reports Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has started filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The movie will have Milly Alcock playing the titular superhero, and will reportedly follow her origin story before traveling to Earth. Alcock is supposed to make her debut in the DCU in the upcoming Superman, which stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
Jason Momoa is also making his return to the DC Universe in a different role. The Game of Thrones star played Aquaman in two films in the DCEU, but he will make his return to the superhero world as a different character. Momoa recently joined the cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as the film's antihero, Lobo.

The movie has Craig Gillespie at the helm with a script adapted by Ana Nogueira based on Tom King's acclaimed comic series. The new entry in the DCU also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills and Eve Ridley in an undisclosed role. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is expected to film in London, England, at Leavesden, and also an undisclosed location in Iceland. James Gunn's Superman was also filmed in several Nordic landscapes, setting base in Svalbard, Norway for the Fortress of Solitude.
Jason Momoa Recently Teased the Production Start
Jason Momoa unveiled the casting as Lobo in a post on Instagram. The actor had previously commented that he would love to play Lobo in the future, and shared a screenshot of his comment on social media. He captioned the post, "They called."

Early this year, he returned to Instagram with another video to tease his upcoming role. The short clip starts with a fire burning before revealing a lit cigar in his hand and the first page of the script for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The watermark read, "For Lobo's eyes only." He can be heard giggling. A second photo shows him celebrating with his girlfriend, actress Adria Arjona. The post received a lot of support, including from critically acclaimed director David Leitch, who suggested a solo film for the character.
"[Jason Momoa] + [David Leithc] Lobo solo movie?" he wrote in the comments with a smile emoji. "I'm in JM! It's a story we were born to tell," he said with a series of fire emojis. "This character is all you."
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
