Jameelah Michl, the woman who shot and killed film marketing consultant and social justice advocate Michael Latt, was sentenced on Wednesday to 35 years to life in state prison by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kerry White.
The 33-year-old Latt was attacked and fatally shot by Michl with a semi-automatic weapon in his home in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles in November 2023. Prosecutors said that Michl targeted Latt "for being friends with a woman she had been stalking." They stated that Michl knocked on the door, then forced herself into Latt's home where she killed him. The woman that Michl was stalking was film "A Thousand and One" director A.V. Rockwell, according to court records.
