The premiere date for Mayfair Witches season 2 has been revealed at New York Comic Con. The show, which is a spinoff from AMC's Interview with the Vampire and is based on the works of Anne Rice, stars Alexandra Daddario, Tongayi Chirisa, Jack Huston, and Harry Hamlin. The upcoming Mayfair Witches season 2 is set to follow Rowan (Daddario) struggling to protect her family after an unexpected tragedy while grappling with the fact that she has given birth to the demon Lasher (Huston).
At New York Comic Con, AMC Networks announced that Mayfair Witches season 2 will premiere on January 5, 2025. They also shared a collection of first-look images from the first two episodes of the new season. The stills offer glimpses at a variety of characters, both new and returning, including Chirisa's Ciprien Grieve holding a small book as well as Huston's Lasher looking rumpled and potentially seductive with his shirt half open.
Also featured in the gallery is Alyssa Jirrels as Rowan's cousin Moira Mayfair, seemingly in distress. Hamlin's Cortland Mayfair seems to be in similar dire straits, while Rowan herself is seen waving her hand over a book, potentially practicing a spell. See the gallery below:
Close What This Means For Mayfair Witches Season 2 The New Season Is Right On Time
This release date officially confirms that season 2 will premiere almost exactly a year after the season 1 premiere, which debuted on January 8, 2023. This means that the hiatus between the Mayfair Witches season 1 finale, which aired on February 26, 2023, and the season 2 premiere is less than 11 months. This is a significant improvement on the Interview with the Vampire hiatus, as that show had season 2 premiere 18 months after the season 1 finale.
Production on Interview with the Vampire season 2 was paused for about 10 weeks amid the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, during which time actors were fighting for fair pay.
The gallery also offers some insight into the goings-on of season 2. While the images featuring most of the returning characters do not reveal many plot details, the still of Mayfair Witches' Lasher showcases an important element of the new season. The character will become even more insidious as his powers of seduction insinuate him even further into the Mayfair family, allowing him further access to and control over them.
Our Take On The Mayfair Witches Season 2 Update Anne Rice's Immortal Universe Has A Bright Future
This regular production schedule could work in the favor of Mayfair Witches, which has a lot to prove as the first spinoff in the AMC Anne Rice franchise, which is known as the Immortal Universe. If it continues at this pace and is renewed for further seasons, it could quickly outpace Interview with the Vampire and potentially become the most robust Immortal Universe show. If that is the case, it will prove that the series can stand on its own and could inspire further spinoffs beyond the upcoming The Talamasca.
