Fans are frequently "handing me Razzles," says Mark Ruffalo of the rom-com classic's impact
Mark Ruffalo has starred in dozens of movies, but when it comes to fan favorites, one stands out the most.
"People fell in love" with 13 Going on 30, he recently told PEOPLE. And the feeling is mutual, he added: "I love that movie."
Speaking remotely at the Nov. 14 Center at West Park's Fall Benefit event, for which he serves as a member of the host committee, Ruffalo, 56, said, "Probably more than every other movie, that's the one I get people talking about when they come up to me."

One scene from the rom-com in particular is referenced "over and over again," he said: his character Matt's romantic late-night run for Razzles candy with Jennifer Garner's Jenna. The four-time Oscar nominee said fans are frequently "handing me Razzles."
Speaking to PEOPLE in April, Garner, 52, named that scene as the one she thinks about most as well. "The night that Mark and I shot in Brooklyn, looking back at Manhattan, the Razzle night," she said at the time, "That is a favorite memory."

Of course, fans approach Ruffalo with other movies on their minds, too. "Yes," he confirmed. " 'That's my secret, I'm always angry,' " his memorable line as Hulk from 2012's The Avengers, is often quoted at him by strangers.

The Center at West Park, based at the West Park Presbyterian Church in Manhattan's Upper West Side, is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a diverse and accessible community of artists. The benefit event included a reading of Kenneth Lonergan's play Lobby Hero, performed by Casey Affleck, Jamie Hector, Aubrey Plaza and Josh Radnor.

Now 20 years old, 13 Going on 30 remains a classic because of the "common denominators involved: caring for our family," reflected Ruffalo. "I don't care who you are, whether you want love or you felt love, every house has love in it, hopefully, some form of love." He added, "That's what the Center's about."
Following Poor Things and All the Light We Cannot See, Ruffalo's upcoming projects include Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 (in theaters Jan. 31, 2025) and Now You See Me 3 (in theaters Nov. 14, 2025).
