What's that Taylor Swift lyric? Something about August TV pairing well with a bottle of wine? She gets it. As the official summer TV season slips away, a variety of new shows will debut across platforms, from docuseries to movie sequels to true crime, and more.
Netflix and BBC's "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder," based on the YA book of the same name, kicks off an otherwise light month on the platform (though this list only includes English-language titles, and many others will debut). The same day marks the premiere of two Prime Video originals, "Batman: Caped Crusader" and the panel format talk show "Influenced." Later in the month, Steph Curry makes his Peacock debut alongside Adam Pally, followed by the film industry deep dive "Hollywood Black. Vince Vaughn makes his Apple TV+ debut with a trained monkey, and for those especially interested in primate programming, there's also HBO's "Chimp Crazy" docuseries. The final week of the month includes Fernando Meirelles' "City of God" sequel, set 20 years after the 2002 film.
